Security

The start, finish and festival area of the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon is a high security zone. Please read these instructions carefully.

Bag Check

Bag check will not be available at the Start. If you plan to check a bag, you must do so at the Expo. Baggage trucks will transport those items to the Finish on race day.

You must show your bib to check or recover a checked bag.

At bag check, security will search your bag before handing it off to a volunteer to sort. At this point, you will be unable to retrieve your bag for any reason until after the race.

No weapons of any kind, flammable liquids, fuels, fireworks, toxic chemicals, explosives, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, blankets, or any other item that security deems dangerous to participants, spectators, staff, or volunteers are allowed at the race or in checked bags.

Do not leave bags unattended anywhere. They will be removed and likely be unrecoverable.

After the race, baggage pickup will be in the festival area.

EVENT SAFETY

We will be using the event flag system to communicate any changes in event safety status, see graphic below.

Waves & Corrals

All participants must pass through a magnetometer (metal detector) to enter the corrals. You will need to show your bib. Absolutely no bags, blankets, hydration packs, or camelbacks will be permitted in the corrals by security. We recommend against fuel belts as they may be refused.

When you pick up your bib at the Expo, you will be assigned a wave and a corral based on the pace you submitted when you registered. You may transfer to any corral within your wave without changing your pace. Your submitted pace is visible in your registration history on your NYCRUNS Dashboard.

If you wish to change waves, you must do so at the Expo. If you have already received a bib, you must exchange your bib at the Expo.

Getting To The Race

It is strongly recommended that you take public transit to the Start. Due to security and road closures, vehicular traffic will be impeded.

Take the L to Bedford Avenue or the G to Lorimer/Metropolitan. We do not recommend the G to Nassau Avenue as street closures prevent a no direct route to the wave entrances.

If you are taking an UBER/Lyft/taxi to the race start or being dropped off by friends and family, please us the corner of Bedford Avenue and N. 7th Street as your target destination.

Driving to the race start is not recommended due to road closures and limited street parking. Available garages are listed on SpotHero, but may be inaccessible the morning of the race.
